To promote

  • the ethos, benefits and values of the SmartHouse
  • new technology to take Europe to the forefront of connectivity, e-commerce, e-inclusion and the EU initiatives enshrined in e-Europe 2005 and the forthcoming i2010 programme.-

To increase

  • the market size of ICT in the domestic sector by creating a growing market for European industry and thus stimulating GDP growth in the EU.

To deliver

  • major societal benefits in the areas of accessibility, energy conservation and security, because the ethos of the SmartHouse extends to all types of dwellings and people at all levels of income, health and ability.
To produce
  • the Reference Framework for SmartHouse development in Europe - an actual, dynamic “electronic” document/register that will continue to evolve with new knowledge and experience for policymakers, builders, developers and the citizens of Europe.

The Project

  • aims high – it is not about small trial projects
  • like the CENELEC SmartHouse programme from which it is derived, it aims to trigger large scale deployments of SmartHouses across all of the EU
  • has both a Core European and a local Member State perspective
  • partners were chosen for their expertise and existing links to National “SmartHouse” projects.
  • it has the expertise, experience and information to inform its deliverables
  • It aims to make the market really grow

The Project has defined a set of integrated Work Packages-
  • WP 2 - Targeted Promotion as Conferences, Seminars, PR, Focus Groups to Industry, Service Providers, Integrators, Installers, the Construction industry and ultimately the Consumer. It will promote deployments in EU Member States-
  • WP3 - The project will identify the Actors that need to be involved for successful deployments of SmartHouses and their technology.-
  • WP4 - The project will identify and deliver the Reference Technology that any developer of SmartHouses can use to get the technology right every time.-
  • WP5 - The project will make links between other EU projects and active SmartHouse deployments and collect and disseminate information and knowledge on the use of new technology by all users. It will develop the Reference Framework for SmartHouses
